Mary Jane began singing at a young age. Raised in a tradition of Renaissance polyphony and Gregorian chant, she spent her youth singing in the Toronto Oratory Children's Choir. At the age of 9, Mary Jane made her Carnegie Hall debut singing in the children's chorus of Oratorio Terezin, a work written by British-Canadian composer Ruth Fazal which set to music poems written by children in the Terezin ghetto during the Holocaust. These experiences, alongside a decade of Royal Ballet training and a lot of high school musical theatre, helped cement in Mary Jane not only a love of music, but the dedication and perseverance required in the pursuit of a musical career.
